CAZIMI, developed and created with Oliver Smart

Cazimi is a site-responsive sculpture created with artist Oliver Smart, comprising of mulberry paper discs made by Igarashi Washi, Echizen, Japan, found cherry wood, oak supporting hoops, suspended in dynamic balance with stainless steel micro cabling in hand machined brass fittings, 90 x 400 cm, Summer 2024.

Ideas for creating a site-responsive work for the Paperwork exhibition evolved over many months. Working with washi and wood with sculptor Oliver Smart, we created a piece in dialogue with the space at Hub, a former seed store in south lincolnshire. Combining Oliver’s cosmic engineering skills with my sculptural paper forms, we were able to explore speculative fictions, the notion of co-existence and reconciliation within material and spiritual realms.
