Rooted.
In January 2021 a decaying tree on the Northumbrian fells was painted with pigment over 4 hours during the midday sun light. The limitations of my frame dictated the reach of the colour on the branches. My feet remained rooted to an island of turf while my arms caressed the trees outlines. In convening with this tree I became acquainted with its shape, examined its form, felt its shadow, heard its aches, danced with its fragility. The time lapse videos memorialise our dialogue of motion.
