The Sea Between Us, Patrick Gabler & Lucy May Schofield, Galerie P5, Berlin, 24th October - 19th January 2025
Lucy and Patrick met in 2016 at the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, California and have been working together since 2021 on a series of woodcuts created between Northumberland and Hamburg. The shared woodcuts are interpretations of Patrick's drawings, carved and printed by Lucy. In The Sea Between Us, they are showing their works for the first time together.
Patrick Gabler, born in Munich in 1967. His works on paper have been shown in several group and solo exhibitions, including at Jordan / Seydoux Berlin, the Galerie Bernard Jordan Paris, Maurits van de Laar in The Hague and the Musée de Beaux-Arts in Caen. His works are in public collections such as the Kupferstichkabinett Berlin, the Museum of Fine Arts San Francisco and the Kunsthalle Hamburg.
Lucy May Schofield, born 1979 in Scunthorpe, England. After studying at the London College of Printing, she lived in Japan for several years. Her work has been exhibited at the Kentler International Drawing Space in New York, the Southern Vermont Arts Center and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in London. Her work is held in public and private collections including Tate Britain, the Ashmolean Museum Oxford and Yale Center for British Art. In 2022 she was awarded a Queen Elizabeth Trust Scholarship and is a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers.
